submitted by Violet S. - |Recommended: Yes10 stars for the Julian Location, Apartments, Staff — I’m starting my third year living at The Julian and wish I could carry this apartment with me wherever I move next. The location of the apartment is wonderful. You’re in the heart of downtown and right around the corner from tons of bars, restaurants, and local attractions. Nationwide Arena, Express Live, and the Convention Center are all 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the building. COSI, the Scioto Riverwalk, the Palace Theater, and the Southern Theatre are all a 5 minute walk from the building. In the summer, tons of festivals take place two roads over- food truck festival, rib fest, and sunset movies are all right next to you Kroger, German Village, and the Short North are all a quick drive from you. My favorite thing is that often you’re driving against traffic during rush hour It’s rare for me to be stuck in any traffic at all, and if I am it’s only a few extra minutes on my commute. You get all the pros of living downtown and avoid the traffic around the city I toured a lot of the different layouts when we first moved in, and each one is unique and beautiful. The giant windows bring me so much joy and I always feel like I’m outside We lived in the D Loft layout for two years and loved the three walls of windows. Hardwood floors, updated appliances, in unit W D, and tons of space. We recently moved into the F Loft unit and while there is one wall of windows instead of three, the space still feels bright and open. I sometimes hear my neighbor’s TV through the walls, but only if I’m sitting on the same wall as their TV and only if it’s silent in my apartment. Another review of the building noted loud HVAC AC, but it’s never bothered me and it nicely blocks out any chance of noise from the hall or my neighbors. The gym in the basement has a lot of great equipment, TVs, and WiFi. It’s always clean, I’ve never had any issues with broken machines, and I’ve never considered getting a gym membership because it has everything I need. The rooftop lounge is a big highlight during the warmer months. It’s equipped with a small kitchen area to keep your drinks and snacks cold, and I spend a lot of time in the sun reading or in the evening watching the sunset over the Scioto River. One of my favorite things about the space is the small herb and veggie garden on the roof I often grab a handful of basil for cooking after watching the sunset. While the rent is on the higher end for Columbus, I absolutely think it’s worth it between the bright, spacious units and the well maintained amenities. The building also throws resident appreciation events often, with fun drinks and snacks. Our favorite fridge magnet is from when they brought Santa to the Christmas party and had an hour blocked off for your pet to get a photo with Santa With the ongoing pandemic, the building has taken a ton of measures to keep residents safe. Hand sanitizer has been stationed at multiple points on each floor, elevator rides are limited to 2 people, and the gym has specific time slots to keep the space clean and with as few people together as possible. Often I’m the only one in the gym which is really nice and makes me feel incredibly comfortable I appreciate that the building worked to keep us all safe and also found ways for us to still enjoy our amenities. I’ve never lived in a building where the staff are so friendly, responsive, and incredibly helpful Whenever I have questions or concerns, they’ve always been so kind and have cleared up any issues I’ve had. I’ve had small maintenance issues like a light burned out up to large issues like a broken garbage disposal, and I’ve never had to wait more than 48 hours for the issue to be resolved usually it’s solved the same day . The staff genuinely care about your experience and your wellbeing, and even though the building has a lot of units I always feel like I’m given support and care. I always enjoy chatting with Chance when I pass through the lobby, Danyelle is always someone I seek out at community events for a fun conversation, and saying hello to Stephen as we pass in the hall brightens my day. Not only do I wish I could take the apartment with me wherever I move, I wish I could take these wonderful people with me too.

If there was one thing I'd fix is the availability of parking for guests. And, the sound insulation between apartments isn't the greatest.
response from property -Thank you for the review, Dale!

The people are very friendly that work here and the property is well taken care of. I have witnessed several buildings in construction around the area I just do not find as anesthetically pleasing to the eye. The enormous windows provide magnificent views and the rooftop is even better The Starbucks machine is clutch if you like coffee and they have social get togethers on a regular basis. The building is also very dog friendly and the gym is very clean as well with a solid set of equipment. Surprisingly, with the high ceilings and large windows the units are very energy efficient. I was shocked when I got my first electric bill Lastly, it could be just where my unit is located but I hear almost nothing from any of my neighbors. Definitely worth checking out Brent B.
response from property -Thank you, Brent!

So I did it...I got rid of the house and I moved downtown to The Julian and I love it here. I never ever hear my neighbors due to the concrete walls and the windows are amazing. Living at The Julian...is like being on a permanent vacation only better because I'm home. waybetterthanmydreams Shelby Chapman
